Island Profile
Ulu (Saddle Island) is a vegetated continental island that features steep rugged hills formed on granitic and acid volcanic basement rocks, well developed beach, dune formations and estuarine sediments.
It is used by Traditional Owners as a camping place and a rest stop during voyages. We sustainably harvest, collect and use many of the resources on Ulu and its surrounding waters, including kabar (trochus), kayar (crayfish), gasi (arrowroot), bamboo, amai stones, kulap vine, and urui kakur (bird eggs) and waru kakur (turtle eggs).
